Camp Thornapple: Campfire Skills

Sitting around the campfire, telling stories and roasting marshmallows are highlights of most people’s summers! Kids will learn how to make homemade fire-starters from household materials you probably have sitting around. Then, we’ll talk campfire safety and learn how to build a strong fire for optimal marshmallow roasting.

Families of participants are invited to join us at 7:30 PM for S’mores! Bring the rest of the family, a chair/blanket to sit on and roasting sticks if you have them. We’ll provide the rest! Help us wrap up Camp Thornapple 2023 the best way possible. There will not be a rain date for this class. Pray for good weather!

What You Get with Your Check:

• 1.5 hours of instruction + .5 hour of gathering time
• All materials to create at-home fire starters
• S'mores ingredients
• Take home your fire starters (and any extra materials, if applicable)

The class payment must be submitted no later than a week before the scheduled class. If not submitted, we have the right to contact the next participant on the waitlist, when applicable. Cash or checks can be mailed or brought in to Thornapple Community Church. Checks can be made out to Thornapple Community Church; memo line “Camp Thornapple.” We do not have online payments set up at this time. If a class is canceled, or a student can no longer attend for any reason, money will be returned in full.

Participants who sign up for any one class before June 1st will receive a free Camp Thornapple t-shirt with registration. A small handful of extra shirts will be ordered for those who sign up on or after June 1st to purchase for $5. Shirts can be picked up at their first class. Extra shirts will remain available until all are purchased.

If your plans change and you can no longer attend, please contact Director of Children’s Ministry, Rachel Exoo, as soon as possible. We will gladly contact someone on our waitlist in your absense!

Upon completion of registration, you will receive a confirmation email as well as reminder emails leading up to the event. If you do not receive a confirmation, please double check if you submitted your form properly.
